Captain A.H. Sorensen was born in Denmark and began his seafaring career at age 6. He appeared in San Francisco around 1890 and worked from local ports for the remainder of his life until 1938. Employment on various vessels include the Queen (schooner), the Ida Snow (schooner), the Snow & Burgess (schooner), and the California (built 1911, steam schooner), owned by the California Whaling Company, San Francisco, California.
